Getting to know the Bad Girl

Jessica St. Denis is a mother,
founding team member at KOTN
and poetry lover

What is your biggest learning from working with KOTN you will pass on to your daughter? | The importance of having personal vision and a passion for whatever she decides to do. It is so important that we remain true to our convictions when aligning with a cause. What drew me to Kotn was its ethical approach in business at every stage. Even after a garment is purchased, a portion of that sale goes back into the region where the cotton was grown, spun, dyed, and sewn – working there was rewarding to my spirit to say the least.

Where do you feel your baddest? | When being intentional about how I spend my time. My main priority is to simply be with my daughter and husband. We can be anywhere, and it instantly becomes magic. A place we'd frequent and experience this was the AGO. My daughter and I would spend time exploring all of the different exhibits to encourage her artistic abilities – she’s truly talented (just like her daddy). I want her to grow up knowing that art matters, that her art matters.

“We should find contentment and deep purpose in living out our influence within our homes, through our friendships, by staying connected to our local communities and supporting worthy causes.”

Jessica St. Denis

What is your personal definition of a 'Bad Girl'? | A woman of great compassion – one who knows that as strength and not weakness.

What book is currently on your bedside table? | I currently have two: Crow Winter by Karen McBride and Home Learning Year by Year by Rebecca Rupp. Trying to find time to read the first while absorbing the all too important advice in the second.

What do you hope for in the future? | I know this may sound like a cheesy cliché, but I hope for world peace (which should be at the top of everyone’s list). Since no one can achieve this on their own, we should find contentment and deep purpose in living out our influence within our homes, through our friendships, by staying connected to our local communities and supporting worthy causes. -
